FOCUS TEAM

Our Training in Evangelism And Ministry (FOCUS TEAM for short) sessions run on Tuesday afternoons is about training and equipping Christians to serve people with the gospel and God’s word.

In term 1, we spend time as a church thinking through practical ways of living as a Christian. In terms 2 and 3, we run some basic courses that every Christian at university can do with their friends and families. Training courses run this term:

Strand 1A: Know the Gospel
Learn the gospel, understand it, and explain it to all prayerfully.

Strand 1B: Share the Gospel
How to share about Christ in our everyday lives.

Strand 2: Follow Up
How to disciple and read the Bible with another Christian in a 1-1 context.

Strand 3: Growth Groups
How to lead others in gospel and Christian growth.

There are also other occasional courses run in some terms to further sharpen and strengthen those who have completed, and are putting into practice, the basics. In addition to FOCUS TEAM training courses, students are welcome to join a CORE Training course during campus time.

Furthermore, apart from these practical hands-on courses, there is a theology hour at FOCUS TEAM every week as well. This is when we delve deep into the Bible and consider matters of Christian theology and how it interacts with ourselves and God’s world.

As Paul says in 1 Timothy 4:8 –for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.
